Volunteering is a great way you can support your local community and we would love to hear from anyone keen to take on an active role within the club.

Every little helps and in some cases you don't even need to know anything about hockey!

Volunteering for Young People (including Duke of Edinburgh Award participants)

We are especially keen to hear from Duke of Edinburgh participants who may be interested in completing your Volunteer or Skill portion with us.

You might be interested in becoming an Assistant Coach for our Sunday Morning Junior Academy. Or choose to develop a new skill as one of our technical officials or youth umpires.

Perhaps you have a younger sibling taking part and would offer a little of your time to support us at events, games and tournaments.

Last year several juniors even had the opportunity to perform in the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games as ball collectors and flag bearers (read our news story here).

Volunteering for Parents & Family Members

TRY COACHING - Are there any aspiring Coaches who fancy starting to get involved coaching at the junior level? Training provided, you don't even need to have played hockey before, just have enthusiasm. There are a range of courses available; from our in-house Coach the Coaches workshop with our Director of Hockey Andrew, as well as financial support to take England Hockey Engaging Games for Children course or progress as a Sessional Coach.

TAKE UP UMPIRING - We are actively looking to increase the number of umpires within the club and it is always easier to start umpiring Juniors. Look out for the message from our Umpire Development Co-ordinator Nick about upcoming workshops and training.

SUPPORT ON ADMINISTRATION - To facilitate the smooth running of approx 250 juniors playing and training hockey regularly, we need an army of willing volunteers behind the scenes.
